Can I adjust the sensitivity of the voice command controls?
The speech command engine includes a Pronunciation tolerance adjustment found in Settings > System > Languages & input > Speech commands. The adjustment may also be reached by saying "Hello Vuzix, speech settings". This slider allows the individual user to decide how strict they require their pronunciation to be for it to be recognized as a voice command. If this slider is not shown, please update your device.
The default setting is tolerant of mispronunciations to increase the chances the engine responds on the first try, even across a wide range of accents. The down-side of this configuration is it may lead to false positives where a valid command is not spoken, but the engine responds anyway.
If false positives are being detected, you should reduce the Pronunciation tolerance. This will require you to speak clearly and without a regional or ethnic accent for the engine to respond on the first try. There are three levels to allow you to find the balance that works best for you. You should choose the most strict setting that consistently understands your voice.
There is no adjustment that controls the distance from the microphone that is required for the speech command engine to respond. The device will not distinguish between a loud voice that is farther from the microphone and a quiet voice that is close to the microphone. If you can hear the command, the speech command engine will too, and it will respond accordingly.
